    • VERMONT DOES NOT HAVE JESSICA'S LAW
    • VERMONT POLITICIANS WOULD NOT CONSIDER JESSICA'S LAW (believe 25 years is too harsh)
    • VERMONT POLITICIANS ARE NOT PROTECTING CHILDREN
    • VERMONT NEEDS JESSICA'S LAW

    SOUTH FLORIDA

CHILD MOLESTER HASN'T SERVED SINGLE DAY OF 43-YEAR PRISON TERM

South Florida middle school art teacher, Aaron Mohanial, was convicted of 13 counts, including child abuse, molestation and lewd battery when he forced a seventh grader boy to have sex.  The teacher forced the boy to have sex in the classroom supply closet.

Broward Circuit Judge Marc Gold granted Mohanial a RARE BOND which allows the molester to remain free until his case is heard on appeal.

This Florida teacher who was convicted as a molester is yet another example of  Florida's TEAHCER ABUSE on students.   Florida ranks second in the nation for this type of abuse. Many of these victims not only suffer sexual abuse but suffer from emotional & psychological abuse as well which lasts a lifetime.  This young victim is still suffering, he stated to CNN news "I want to move on with my life.  I'm trying to graduate high school and forget about this.'he said.  "I try not to think about it, but it is hard, because all I can think about is, what if he's out there around other kids?"

Aaron Mohanial, resigned from teaching in 2005.  He is currently registered as a Florida sex offender and is listed as living in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department makes FOUR visits per year to the Port St. Lucie home to verify that Mohanial lives there.

This man is facing a 43 year sentence..........which is considered a LIFE SENTENCE but  he is still allowed to remain in society.  WHERE IS THE JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIM???

Again more news involving TEACHERS......reported July 24, 2008.

    San Diego, CA

A 14 year old teen-ager was told she was "UGLY" and called a "BRAT" by her teacher at Mount Miguel High School.  The teacher, Heather Hargett, allegedly called the student these names as she gave the teen-ager a SWIFT KICK to  the buttocks and ordered the student to leave the room.

The student is now sueing the teacher in California.

It seems that more & more stories are surfacing around the nation concerning TEACHER'S INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS and the cases are bizarre. There is defiantely a problem!!!

    SAN DIEGO, CA

Jade Ray, 14 year old victim is suing her chior teacher from Grossmont School District for $75,000 in damages.  This lawsuit claims that the victim was humiliated and psychologically scarred by her teacher.  The teacher called the student "Ugly" and a "brat" and gave her a swift kick in the buttocks as she ordered the girl out of the classroom.   The victim told KFMB-TV " I was embarrassed because the whole class was watching and laughing at me."

    article link:

California ranks first in the nation for teacher abuse.

Children need to be protected.  Being abused by a trusted adult can have a devastating effect on a child and their future.  Negative social experiences in school especially victimization or rejection have been found to put children at risk.  Teachers aren't just educators but individuals who fulfill basic social and emotional needs for children.

School board and educational officials must look at specific interventions and take these situations seriously when they are reported to protect children.

Re: Child Abuse- the long term effects.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has chosen to SHRINK it's investment in Children's education and other children's issues.

EDUCATIONAL SPENDING is STARK when it comes to the FEDERAL BUDGET.  It has not kept up the pace with the overall economic growth.

NOTHING IN PRESIDENT BUSH'S 2009 BUDGET REQUEST does anything to reverse the trends described in www.firstfocus.net  current report.

If President Bush's BUDGET REQUEST is enacted it means that the Federal Government will spend 20% LESS than it did in 2004 for Youth Traing according to the report.

In 1929, President Hoover called a WHIT HOUSE conference on CHILD HEALTH & PROTECTION, noting "Human progress marches only when children excel their parents."  Public opinion research shows for the first time many AMERICANS believe that the lives of children have gotten worse over the past ten years.  This generation may face worse than their parents.  Bruce Lesley, President of First Focus addresses children's issues and how they must be made a priority for the 21st CENTURY in his message.

It is election year and many of us have heard the speeches of those politicians running for office it is very important to know where their priorities are concerning our children.  CHILDREN MUST BE MADE A PRIORITY.!!!!!

Re: Child Abuse- the long term effects.

DID YOU KNOW...............in the UNITED STATES

8 Million children lack HEALTH INSURANCE

3 Million children reported ABUSED & NEGLECTED

4.5 Million children are NOT enrolled in EARLY LEARNING

14 Million children are left ALONE after school

2 Million children have parents in PRISON

13 Million children live in POVERTY

The Presidential candidates and the media should be addressing these issues.  The obstacles that children and family issues face during an elcection are formidable.....but with your "VOICE" the media and the candidates will hear that these are serious issues demand their attention.

Question 1:  According to a UNICEF report the U.S. ranks 20th out of 21 rich democracies in child well-being.  What would you do to close the gap in order to maintain our global economic competitveness?

Fact from CHILDS CRY FOR HELP'S ..Emotional Abuse Fact Sheet

The United States, in comparison with other advanced nations, has LESS than explemplary record in regard to proteecting children.  Only two countries have failed to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, 1989:  Somalia and the United States.

Question 2:  In perhaps the ultimate measure of homeland insecurity, 28,000 U.S. children have been killed since the start of the Afghanistan/Iraq wars as the result of suicide, homicide or child abuse.  What would you do to reduce the violence experienced by children and make our homeland more secure for them?

Help Make Children a Priority......for more info go to:

    http://www.everychildmatters.org

Every Child Matters is targeting the upcoming presidential debates to spotlight the nedds of children and families and pressing for new investments in a wide array of social programs for children.
